New Year, New Outlook

Happy New Year everyone! I know it is albeit late but I thought I should compose myself and decide on what to say in my new year post. It will be filled with words and not pictures for I decided that I will share on my insights and lesson(s) learnt in 2013. 2013....what can I say? It was an amazing year with a lot of downs at the beginning of it. It was challenging as I started the year so, so depressed and it went on from there till mid-year where I found my strength and hope once again. I lost weight because of that and people were asking. I shared with only my closest friend and people in my youth group what I was going through. Depressed as I was, I still wanted to live despite thinking death was better than the feeling I have everyday. Good thing I didn't dare take my own life! I thank God that He was always faithful through and through - thankful that even though I had given up, He certainly did not! Through my friends and my youth group, even though they did not entirely know or understand what I was going through, their company and their presence was like God's hand extending out to me. I am still trying to get back because from all that weight loss and terrible eating habit, I did mention I have gastritis problem right? It is the consequence. :( While I am emotionally getting better, my physical health is suffering from the after effects of it.

Depression aside, throughout the whole of 2013, one thing was apparent to me - I don't spend on myself as much as I used to. I always liked going to the mall and scout for my next splurge or my next fashionable must-have for me to save up and buy it. All that effort was to be noticed and for people to see how fashion forward I am and for people to praise me at how I didn't rely on my parent's money completely to buy it. Well depression does make you not have the mood to shop cos you're constantly tired but it did change my priorities. I realized that money spent on people is much better of an investment than investing on the next statement piece. What I mean is while I did not spend it on clothes or shoes or beauty products, I spend it every time my friends ask me out. At first it was to fill a 'hole' and to run away from my depression but eventually I continued enjoy spending time and having meaningful conversations with them. Not to say I did not shop but I spend when my father brings me out which is a rare occurrence, a once or twice a year kinda thing. It is enough to get fashion essentials.

So last year my perspective in a lot of things have changed. I've become simpler. I reduced my contact with people who spend their money unnecessarily. I do not feel the need to impress people or keep up with what people have because all these things make you so empty. How often do we reach out to people? How often do we really take the time to open up to people? How often do we hold ourselves accountable when people tell you difficult things? When did you last have a meaningful conversation with someone? I have a lot to learn still but last year changed my life and see how self-centered and selfish I have been. Which is why I have not been posting a lot of fashionable stuff lately. I would like to make sure my intent is to help and not impress. I would like to determine which direction I would like this blog to go. Here's to a NEW YEAR!

Holiday Greetings!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I have been busy with Christmas preparations and now things have eased up. I've been wanting to blog really interesting and helpful topics like shopping tips and such but the weather is so gloomy for pictures and I also feel lazy on top of that. It's the tropical winter. The monsoon season really hit us hard this time around. I don't remember Christmas being this wet last year but I still enjoy the very cool weather. Some are complaining but I really do enjoy it. It's just that doing laundry is close to being non-existent during this season. This weather is a testament on how I will not be able to endure winter as I have been wearing as though it is autumn/winter here. Crazy! But that was how I was dressing up. For now, I leave you with this lovely holiday greeting from the Hunger Games fan page. It's just beautiful...

I'm backkk....

Hey alls I know it's been a long time. There have been many factors but the major one is that I have been plagued with gastritis which rendered me immobilized at times and not in the mood to be dressy. Lately I have been better and so I am in the mood to blog as well. Also, I recently went to KL for a shopping trip and so I have new clothes! Yay! Here's an outfit I wore on Wednesday....

Jersey dress, chain necklace, red tights and boots. All from H&M Undivided.

I literally fell in love when I saw this dress because it has a picture of a cat on it. Perhaps this will enforce my future as the crazy cat lady. Who knows? But this is an homage to my cat, Smokey because she is awesome. Even though this was not the most expensive item I bought but out of all my purchases, this was my favourite! I liked it so much that I thought I left this dress at the hotel I stayed in. Unnecessary heartache for nothing! Not sure why I decided to do that to myself but I did. I must be so tired that I think weird things. Weird shit like that happens to me, believe me.

Upon wearing this outfit, I thought tights were fitting as I have ugly sand fly bites on my leg that I wanted to cover up but it was so unbearably hot so I ditched them. I thought since I could wear this style with such a humid weather whilst in KL, I should be able to withstand the weather here. I obviously thought wrong. However, upon reaching campus, the weather decided to change its course and become windy and set my skirt flying about. Brilliant, really. But all is well once I went indoors.

A friend of mine have been convincing me to get into the beauty blogging bandwagon. I would love to but I was never entirely a skin care kind of person. My skin is not exactly my best asset. I love clothes and would much rather spend on clothes than skin care or make up. But I will try my best. I do think that I should pay more attention to my skin as honestly, it does not look great. I should do something about it.

I Covet.... #1

Hello beautiful people! It has been awhile. I am in the midst of my finals and previously been busy preparing for it. Funny how in the midst of preparing, I have the urge to blog and to play Dota 2. I know the content of my blog is mostly about shopping at an affordable rate but sometimes, you just want to splurge. However, I am not in a position to do so yet but one can dream, no? I thought I should throw in a little ensemble of an outfit of things I browse online. I would like to call it the "I Covet..." post.

1. Waterfall Trapeze Dress, RM249.00 Topshop (buy here

I have been looking for a simple dress where I can go everywhere with. Mostly to campus. Also, Malaysia is hot and humid 24/7 so I'd like something easy and breezy. I also wanted to look for something white as I never really owned a white dress apart from the one on my header which I thought is odd. White is such a basic thing that I do not own! I always buy something coloured or printed that it becomes a little hard to mix and match. It is always great to buy a lot of basic pieces in basic colours so that you can build on it to make the look more outstanding or create a new outfit simply by mixing it up. I'd definitely want to get something similar to this.

2. Arabel2 Cut Out Heavy Boots, RM386.00 Topshop (buy here)

I love boots. Ask my friends and they would concur. I own a few pairs already but I would love to have more as they are wearing out. :( These boots are just so cool. Plus it's cut out so I suppose they're 'airy' in a way. Even if they aren't, I'd still wear them anyway.

3. Large Link Chunky Chain, RM89.00 Topshop (buy here)

I have a thing for chain necklaces. Not that I own one already but I have been wanting to get myself a really good one. Chain necklaces or tiered necklaces can make a simple dress look out of this world or as Alex Perry would say "looks expensive". I wouldn't say "look expensive" as the one I chose is already expensive anyway (comparing to my own terms of expensive).

4. MOTO Vintage Fitted Western, RM219.00 Topshop (buy here)

This particular denim jacket is not too slouchy and is fitted. I'd wear this when it gets cold. Sometimes when it rains here, it can get a little chilly so this would be good enough to cover up. It's not too long as I would like to show how the dress flows like a waterfall. Apart from that, denim jackets are great as a basic for 'building' another outfit look as well.

Good Beauty News

I am reluctant to reveal this information but I must. For if I do not share it, then I am not a good messenger to all the ladies out there and it would not fulfill the purpose of this blog. It is just too good to keep it to myself. I have a craze for a certain particular product. It is so affordable. In fact, to say it is affordable is completely an understatement - it is cheap. If you have not heard of the brand called Essence which is available at Watsons' at Boulevard Shopping Mall, then you were missing out on the best deal in the whole of Kuching - maybe the entire world even. I have owned a few of their products: two of their lip gloss, one lipstick, a concealer, blusher and a gel liner brush. Not a big fan of their lip products but their blusher is so pigmented! I used the blusher on my post called I'm Walking On Sunshine (click here). I did not use so much and it is noticeable. On Monday, I went to Watsons' and I tried out their pencil eyeliners. I am truly amazed at how black the black is. And it does not rub off so easily. I am definitely going to purchase one of the liners next time. This is how the testers look like....

See how black the black is?? For a price of RM10.90, I think it looks pretty good. I'm very interested to get the lime green shade as I thought it would be fitting for Spring/Summer (haha, it is ALWAYS summer here!). I always opt for black as it is universal and can never go wrong but I feel like being adventurous and try something else. After all, it is very cheap. If you want to view more of their products you can go to their website at www.essence.eu or just head to Watsons' at Boulevard Shopping Mall. I guarantee you will not go back empty handed. The cheap price would entice you, tempt you and seduce you until you fall to your knees to say "I must have you!".

Coral's My Moral

So I brought this bad girl of a skirt out again. Got bored with the black tank top combination and I wanted a 'pop' of colour. However, I did not have a bright coloured top but I did have a coral coloured skirt. What did I do? Turned it into a tube top! Would've been nice if I had a chain necklace instead though. That would be on my next hunt.

My favourite accessory at the moment! I got this ring as a gift after volunteering to help my friend model her collection. Pretty eh? The only downside to it is that it wasn't as gold as it used to be, most probably due to oxidation. Even if it oxidizes, I think it would still look pretty cool.
